Re: Cindy Sheehan. What Would a Man of Integrity Do?

Yankeedoodle makes it quite clear with a post over at Today In Iraq. We all know Bill Clinton's flaws but here's another example of his basic human decency.

I found this appalling look inside the mind of Tucker Carlson over at AMERICAblog this morning.
Energy Bill a Part of the New Deal Roll Back

The recent energy bill is not only full of pork, it rolls back New Deal legislation designed to protect utility customers.
Reporter Who Questions Rumsfeld is "Aggressively Removed" From The Premises

With all the important diaries here today, I hesitate to post this one but after doing a search and finding no mention of it, I think it's worth of bringing to the attention of Kossacks.
Negropontizing the the war in Iraq?
Thu Jun 30, 2005 at 07:57:43 PM PDT
John Negroponte, architect of Reagan's atrocious death squad strategy in Central America may be back at work in Iraq.
"A heck of a nice guy."

Sociopaths can come from any social group, liberal or neo-con. I leave out old fashioned conservatives, because they seem largely absent from the political scene these days.
Does it not seem familiar, that the worst aspects of human nature should be cloaked in religion?
The BTK killer has confessed and surprise, surprise he's a church leader. Ain't it always the way.

Death Squad John

Any kossacks not familiar with "Today In Iraq" will probably find a visit quite enlightening:

I'm quoting a comment left on that blog and hoping that if the commentor is correct, we can help spread the word about this broadening of U.S. offenses against humanity. I'd really like to see "Death Squad John" not get away with repeating the kind of atrocities that he helped Reagan perpetrate.
An Awesome Rant
Sat Apr 09, 2005 at 11:15:28 AM PDT
I stumbled upon this while browsing
http://dailywarnews.blogspot.com/
That blog, the product of a retired Army warrent officer if I'm not mistaken, linked to one of the most awesome rants I've read. The subject is the repuglicon's reaction to the Pulitzer Prize winning photos of the war in Iraq.
These guys are just allergic to the truth. They'll do almost anything to fend off awareness of what war is like for the people on the ground. The rantor nails their hypocrisy is such a satisfying way:
Freedom isn't free, you miserable chickenshits. You cheer the war, you love the war, you love the troops, you support the troops. But to recognize their sacrifices would diminish your pleasure so you send the images away.

"The Continuing Hunt for PATRIOT Act Abuses"
Tue Mar 15, 2005 at 04:43:40 AM PDT
There's a great question posed over at Slashdot about actual abuses vs. potential abuses of the PATRIOT Act. As usual for Slashdot, a wide variety of viewpoints are expressed but the majority seem to be some flavor of progressive:
We made our constitution difficult to change to protect our children from cowards. Cowards who run crying, begging for protection from terrorists at any price - even though they kill fewer people than slipping and falling, even though they are selling freedoms that sufficed for us through many, many crises before. I'm sure there are many here who are scared enough of Osama to sell out their civil rights on the chance it will make them a little safer. It's the price we all pay for the general ignorance of history.
If was was stuck on a desert island with only 3 websites, they'd be dkos, slashdot, and ebay.
Here's the link. Thread currently has 780 comments so I suggest you change the rating threshold from 1 to 5 to cut that number down.

" Fuck Al From, it's time to fight and win"
Sat Mar 12, 2005 at 11:28:29 PM PDT
Title taken directly from the post on Steve Gilliard's blog. Here's a sample:
Here's the deal: Americans like the lives liberals gave them. There have been fundamentalists since 1740 and, like roaches, they pop up, fuck up a few things and scurry away. Rapture? Every century brings out those wackos. Left Behind is Star Wars for Bible thumpers. Fucking fiction. But what they don't like is our unwillingness to stand for something.
Unwillingness to stand for something. Something that can be boiled down to a simple message easily digested by fans of Desperate Housewives. Maybe six words would be short enough: Basic human rights and constitutional principles.
Here's the rest. Enjoy! http://stevegilliard.blogspot.com/
Kevlar
Thu Mar 10, 2005 at 01:32:10 PM PDT
Short, stupid diary. Forgive me for running the researchers off the page. My military service is my own deal. Reclaiming democracy is a dkos deal and I thank you guys for it. I'm spoutin'. forgive me. I had a bad dream last night.
In the dream, I was young enlisted. I checked my locker. There
was kevlar gear, vest, gloves, quad pads, and helmet. The young,
black-haired NCO was full of vigor and enthusiasm. I knew the kevlar
gear might protect my heart and spleen but not my my fingers, arms,
and legs.
I also knew this was war against a country that never attacked us.
This was war to take another country's oil, and land for military
bases, by people who never served in war.
Sgrena shooting: It's war get over it.

</close horrible sarcasm>
For those that still don't get it, that was an attention-getting title in the mock voice of Limbaugh, Colter, and others who are bringing the worst aspects of human nature to our country.
