Ad Guy....fed up with America.

My response to Bill Clinton's "Call to Action"

Thu Sep 14, 2006 at 08:03:44 AM PDT

I received an email this morning from Bill Clinton on behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee entitled The Consequences of Inaction.  The email urged me to act now to ensure a Democratic Senate.  He wrote:

On November 7, Americans will make a critical choice together - will we give this administration and the Republican Congress two more years of unfettered control over our economy, our security, and our role in the world? Or will we say together that it is time for a new direction?

Here is my reply:

We see the consequences of inaction every day. Inaction by the Democrats in the Senate and in the House. Afraid to oppose the policies of George W. Bush. If they would fillibuster something, anything, it would send a message to the people that Democrats actually stand for something. I'm tired of being told to take action when the very people in a position to take action -- the people we ELECTED to take action -- are too timid and afraid to do so.

With all due respect...I'll take action when they do.

Rep. Joe Knollenberg (R MI 9th) hates his gay son.

Sat Jun 03, 2006 at 08:09:38 PM PDT

I am fortunate that my two Senators, Debbie "Bankruptcy Bill" Stabenow  and Carl "Heckuvajob Hayden" Levin, while casting their fair share of disappointing votes, will both vote against the Republican's upcoming We Hate Gays Amendment.

But come Monday, when W. stands in the Rose Garden and declares that I am such a threat to civilization that we must amend the Constitution of the United States to allow -- no, to require every straight man, woman and child to discriminate against me -- he will have support from my so-called "representative" in Congress, Joe Knollenberg of Michigan's 9th Congressional District.

But ol' Joe doesn't come to this point of view out of ignorance.  No!  He knows first hand what a threat we are because his very own son, Stephen, is openly gay. So Joe knows, just like Mary Cheney, the threat that his son poses, that we all pose, to civilization itself.  Of course, I'm sure W. and Daddy Knollenberg will be alright with his gay son sharing his Fabulous! interior design skills with straight people as long as he knows his place.

More evidence that Brit Hume is an ass!

Thu Sep 15, 2005 at 02:30:06 PM PDT

So I'm watching a clip on Media Matters about how Rush Limbaugh is repeating a false claim that Brit Hume made about NO Mayor Ray Nagin moving to Dallas.  At the very end of the clip, there's a graphic which reads: New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin (d).

Not (D).  (d).

When is the FEC gonna rule that Fox News is simply the Propaganda Arm of the RNC?

The clip can be seen here: Brit Hume is an ass.

Bush Tanking. Be on Terror Alert Alert

Thu May 19, 2005 at 10:39:53 AM PDT

Every poll shows Bush's approval ratings are plummeting.  And he's taking the entire Republican Party with him, god willing.

If America won't rally behind the Repubs on Social Security, judges, the nuclear option, the economy, and everything else they stand for...what are they to do?

The only thing they are good at.  Fearmongering.

I'm expecting them to announce a Terror Alert any day now.  I'm making a point to tell everyone I know that this is what I think is going to happen.  So that when it does...and we all know that it will...maybe people will start to realize that we're being used and manipulated.

Bush tanking in AOL poll.

Thu Apr 28, 2005 at 03:31:41 PM PDT

I really think the wheels are starting to come off the Republican corruption wagon.  I know it's just a stupid online poll, but these things on AOL usually tend to favor the bastard.  But right now with just under 7,000 votes here's what people are saying about Chimpy's job performance:

Bush's overall job performance?
Poor 60%
Excellent 18%
Good 12%
Fair 9%

My letter to Time Magazine

Thu Apr 21, 2005 at 10:53:11 AM PDT

I cancelled my subscription to Time Magazine today.  The phone call was kind of anti-climactic since the guy answering the phone really couldn't care less.  So I sent this follow-up email:

I've never before cancelled a magazine subscription due to disagreeable content.  However, your cover story on Ann Coulter convinced me it was time to do just that.  If I want to willingly expose myself  to unquestioned lies and propaganda from hatred-spewing clowns, I'll join the Republican Party.

It feels good.

I will die on Jan 18, 2038.

Wed Mar 30, 2005 at 12:40:18 PM PDT

I just purchased a Lifetime subscription to Daily Kos. The thank you email I got in response read:

Thank you for subscribing to Daily Kos!

You have added 1 months to your subscription, of
the type "Lifetime Subscription". Your subscription will expire on
18 Jan 2038.

Gulp!

Knowing I have less than 33 years left to live is a sobering thought.  Cut down in my prime at just 74 years of age!

Only 33 years left to help make sure we don't get another crappy president like this ever again.

Let's hold their self-rightous feet to the damned fire!

Mon Mar 21, 2005 at 04:28:30 AM PDT

Fuck Bush. Fuck DeLay. Fuck Frist. Fuck the Religious Rightwing Wackos.

And let's  use their words against them.  Every single day.  Let's use Terri Schiavo not for the good of the Party.  But for the good of all America.

Use quotes like Jeb's to push for legislation that helps the poor, the disabled, the disadvantaged.

"We in government have a duty to protect the weak, disabled and vulnerable," he said in a statement Monday. "I appreciate the efforts of state and federal lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who have taken this duty to heart."

Exactly!  So let's make the Right vote this way every day.  For them to act any other way would be....what's the word?  Hypocrisy?

Senator Debbie...you are cut off!

Thu Mar 10, 2005 at 07:25:20 PM PDT

The  bankruptcy bill passed and one of my two Senators, Debbie Stabenow (DINO-MI), voted for it.  She also voted for cloture the other day.

I have admired Sen. Stabenow for years, from her days in the Michigan legistlature and on to her (unsuccessful) run for the Democratic gubenatorial nomination, culminating in her defeating Pig Man Senator Spencer Abraham in 2000.  Hooray for Debbie!

I was happy to donate to her campaigns whenever I was asked to contribute.  In fact, I  received a mailing just the other day asking her to help her in her 2006 re-election campaign.

Sorry Senator.  The only thing you'll be receiving from me is a phone call to your office tomorrow telling you why I will never contribute to your political coffers ever again.

You are such a disappointment.  Democratic principles obviously mean nothing to you.  They do, however, mean something to me.

So from this moment on....my wallet slams shut to you.  You are cut off!

All I Want for Christmas...

Wed Dec 22, 2004 at 11:14:50 AM PDT

I want someone from the media (Ha!) to ask W. this question:

"Mr. President, one of the countless rationales you have given for this war besides the non-existant Weapons of Mass Destruction was that we had to liberate the Iraqi people because Saddam Hussein was a brutal dictator who routinely ordered the torture of the citizenry.

"Given the fact that it has been revealed that the torture at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo was not the work of "a few bad apples"  but a result of your Executive Order authorizing such practices, why is it alright when YOU have innocent Iraqis tortured and killed but wrong when Saddam did it?"

I was defeated twice on Tuesday.

Thu Nov 04, 2004 at 09:24:45 AM PDT

Not only did the majority of voters in America choose Bush, a majority of voters in my own state voted to take away my rights by approving an amendment to the Michigan Constitution which bans gay marriage, civil unions or anything even approximating them.

Below the fold is my LTE of the Detroit Free Press. I knew when I sent it that it was too long for them to print, but dammit, I was in a venting mood.  It was at least heartening to see the many similar letters that appeared this morning.

This is not America...is it?
